It is like nothing else built by man, that power of a rocket lifting off. Whether it’s the first time or the one hundredth, it is jaw dropping. It sits benign enough on the launch pad until the smoke and fire pours from its belly.
Nature gives us that same feeling in the raw power of a hurricane. It descends upon you innocently enough with a light breeze and a drizzle. Soon you are engulfed in a torrent of rain and raging wind.
For thirty years I was privileged to cover the space program for CNN. I also covered nearly every hurricane to strike the United States including Andrew, Katrina, Hugo. The power created by man and the power no man could create drew me.
That’s why this blog will always be a lot about Space. You will find interviews, news and fun because space is fun. It is wow! And because I think its “wow” you’ll get my opinion too. It will be about storms too but hopefully, I won’t be writing very often about hurricanes!
You’ll get other reads on topics such as wildlife, environment. I’ll probably throw in some fishing stories!
The hope is you will be informed and entertained not so much by me but by the people I’ve come to know over the thirty years I was a network correspondent.
I hope you enjoy.
